Raj Kumar Thapa is a senior researcher at Nordland Research Institute. His research interests include innovation studies, entrepreneurship, social innovation and entrepreneurship, responsible innovation, digital innovation and entrepreneurship, technology innovation and sustainability transition. He has a long teaching experience. Before joining Nordland Research Institute, Raj worked as a research scientist at Genøk-centre for biosafety (Now merged into NORCE). There he worked in NewHoRRIzon project managing two different Social Labs: Future and Emerging Technologies (FET), and Food security, sustainable agriculture and forestry, marine and maritime and inland water research, and the bioeconomy (FOOD). He facilitated scientists and stakeholders in developing pilot activities to integrate Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) into research and innovation projects.

Raj has a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from MG University Kerala, India, Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from BI Norwegian Business School and Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from BI. He holds a doctoral degree in Responsible Innovation and entrepreneurship from University of Stavanger, Norway.
